Service Description

Gordon Rocks is not just a dive site—it’s a rite of passage for advanced divers in the Galápagos. Known for its exhilarating currents and dramatic underwater topography, this extinct volcanic crater offers one of the most iconic and adrenaline-fueled dive experiences in the archipelago. The site features a sandy crater floor at 32 meters and a dramatic outer wall that drops beyond 65 meters. Three jagged rock formations breach the surface, surrounding the dive zone, while submerged pinnacles form a maze-like structure teeming with marine life. These dynamic conditions make Gordon Rocks a magnet for pelagic action—and especially for hammerhead sharks. Divers often spot schools of 20, 50, or even more hammerheads cruising gracefully through the current above the rocks, offering some of the most breathtaking shark encounters in the region. In addition to hammerheads, you might spot blacktip and whitetip reef sharks, green sea turtles, eagle rays, stingrays, and sea lions zipping through the blue. Massive schools of barracuda and snapper create swirling silver clouds, while lucky divers may even witness the elegant glide of a manta ray or the rare appearance of a Mola mola. Golden rays sometimes pass by in formation, adding to the magic of the site. Due to strong currents and depth, Gordon Rocks is recommended for advanced divers. If you have fewer than 30 logged dives, we advise checking with our team before booking to ensure safety and enjoyment. Gordon Rocks is a powerful reminder of what diving in the Galápagos is all about: raw beauty, untamed nature, and the thrill of the unknown.
