Step back in time and dive into the mystery and beauty of Floreana Island, the most storied and enigmatic of the Galápagos. This full-day tour blends world-class snorkeling with rich human history, breathtaking viewpoints, and close encounters with iconic wildlife—making it one of the most unique excursions in the archipelago. 🕗 Departure: Between 7:30 and 8:00 a.m. ⏱️ Travel Time: 1.5–2 hours by fast boat with restroom facilities (Note: From August to October, seas can be choppy—this tour is not recommended for those with neck or back issues). Tour Highlights: 🏝️ Island Exploration: Once you arrive, you'll spend 2–3 hours exploring Floreana on foot. Visit the historic pirate caves that once served as shelters and freshwater sources for early settlers. Along the trail, you'll encounter giant tortoises in their natural habitat and hike up to Larga de Aki, a scenic viewpoint with panoramic views of the coastline and surrounding bay. 🍽️ Local Lunch: Enjoy a hearty meal at a family-run restaurant in Puerto Velasco Ibarra, the island’s quiet and charming port town, home to just 100 permanent residents. 🤿 Coastal Snorkeling: In the afternoon, head to a peaceful volcanic black-sand beach to snorkel in some of the clearest waters in the Galápagos. Swim with playful sea lions, glide alongside green turtles, and—if you're lucky—spot Galápagos penguins darting through the water. Snorkeling gear is included, and wetsuits are available for rent. Floreana’s Hidden History: Floreana isn’t just rich in wildlife—it’s infamous for its eccentric settlers, mysterious disappearances, and unsolved dramas. From 19th-century castaways like Patrick Watkins to failed colonies that ended in murder and myth, this island has earned its nickname: The Island of Mysteries. Your guide will bring these stories to life as you walk the same paths once trodden by pirates, pioneers, and eccentrics. ⏳ Estimated return to Puerto Ayora: ~5:00 p.m., depending on sea conditions. ✅ Includes: Lunch and drinking water Snorkeling gear (mask, snorkel, fins) Certified bilingual naturalist guide Wetsuits available for an additional fee This tour is a perfect mix of snorkeling, storytelling, and natural wonder—ideal for adventurers seeking a different kind of Galápagos experience.
